Portland Or News

We are currently still under construction, but shooting to be open during the week of the 21st. This week has been busy installing phone and internet lines, wiring speakers, setting up offices, and bringing in tools. The exterior tiling is still being installed as well. We're close but not there yet!

Some exciting news, though - we got our first list of reservation holders today! This list only includes the first 30 reservations, who's cars will be delivered in January. We should be receiving the February list soon as well. We will begin contacting reservation holders tomorrow, so hopefully you are one of those people! I know you are excited and I just wanted to thank you for being so patient. This is going to be an incredible launch and we are glad to have such enthusiastic customers.

In other exciting news - smart center Portland will be on display at the Portland Auto Show on Jan. 24-27th. We will also be handing out awesome stickers, temporary tattoos, and more fun stuff! If you're around, you should stop by and say hello.

SMART In Transit

I just got a call from Smart Center Portland. My Passion is "In Transit". He had several "In Port" and others "In Production". My car has left the port and is on a truck headed for Oregon.

For thos vehicles "In production" he did not think they would be January deliveries, but February. Smart Portland was supose to be getting 30 cars in this first shipment.

I asked questions about the destination charge - he had no specifics
I asked about a color swap at the time of delivery - he had no specifics

He did ask if I was paying cash, needed to finance or would be trading in a vehicle.

I'm an 1173, but late in the day.

Just a reservation holder. But got an email earlier based on an email I sent about 3 days ago. Then got "the" call that my car was on its way!

How do I find out the status of my car?

this is the big grey area. your dealer told you that your cars listed as "in transit" but said your car was on it's way to OR. my dealer told me that "in transit" means it's still on the water. that said, my car was said to be on the way, but not in the first shipment of 7 even though i was early morn 1173.

i sure wish the dealers could get the true meaning of "in transit". doesn't seem like it would be that hard to figure out.

If you did not receive a call recently, you may want to try calling 1-800-SMART-USA to get a status on your vehicle. Until the dealership is linked up, we will not have access to a complete list of our reservation holders.

To my knowledge, "in transit" indicates that your car has already reached the port and is "in transit" to the dealership. That is what I have been told by my higher up's.

yea, i was afraid you were gonna say that haha. seems like that's one more thing that SmartUSA has not been clear on. my dealer (in SD) says he understands that it means still on the water. nobody seems to really know.
