Price drop on Smart cars??

I was told by a mechanic that smart was going to drop their price on cars by $5,000... I sincerely doubt it. He couldn't tell me where he heard it as he couldn't remember. My guess is he was looking at a stripped down copy of a smart.

Ain't gonna happen. Seems more and more mechanics are becoming druggies. My cousins have a nice little shop that my dad, grandfather, and uncles opened 20+ years ago. A few months ago my uncle died and in his estate was the Corvette my dad bought new back in 1969. My father and I offered up a few grand for the car and heard nothing. Then we heard a rumor it sold for $1600. Last weekend we saw a friend at a show and he told us about the deal he just got, a 1969 Corvette for $200! My dad's old car. Seems like they needed drug money. (the rumor I've heard)

The price won't take a dive like $5k.

The smart in the US is at rock bottom price already--the US is the cheapest place in the world to get a Smart, even compared to Europe where they don't have to be shipped very far.
