Railway Disruptions in Germany

Railway Disruptions in Germany: (Jan 04/ 1145 CST) German train drivers will begin an open-ended strike Jan. 07, 2008 in a months long wage dispute with the national railway operator Deutsche Bahn AG.

The GDL union said the strike will target passenger and freight services.
This announcement came a day after the union said talks with railway operator Deutsche Bahn AG had been broken off.
Those planning to travel by train or subway in this region should check with the railway immediately to reconfirm travel arrangements.
If your train has been canceled, request a reservation on the next available train, even if it's on another line.
Traffic on roadways near the train station may be considerably more congested than normal.
Stations are likely to become very crowded, lines will be long and tempers among other passengers may be short. Please allow extra time to get to the station and check in.
Further updates will be provided if necessary.

It has been reported that the PCTCs carrying smarts and M-Bs commence their voyages at Bremerhaven. Those same ships also call at Zeebrugge, Belgium as their second port of call. Zeebrugge is a larger car handling port than Bremerhaven (it is the largest in Europe), and can be gotten to without involving Germany. Zeebrugge is also a bit closer to Hambach than Bremerhaven.

I have no current plans to travel Germany, so I guess that means I'll be ok!
