receiving 09 without reconfiguring from 08

I just received my delivery date and VIN# from my dealer confirming delivery of my 09 passion coupe on Nov 8th. I am a 1507. I configured an 08 on 4/21/08. I have been in monthly contact with 1-800 Smart and my dealer. Both said I was receiving a 2008 model. However when I received the 30-45 day notice from my dealer on Sept. 3rd the dealer said it was going to be a 2009. At first I did not believe them. The Smart call center told me that my dealer was wrong because to the best of their knowledge you would have to reconfigure to get a 2009. I even called back again to the Smart call center and heard from another rep that it had to be a 2008 just a week ago. Well my VIN number is for a 2009 and my dealer said my car is in their first shipment of 2009's. I am happy to receive a 2009 at the price of a 2008. I did call the Smart call center to let them know that it appears that their understanding of the reconfiguration process was not entirely correct. They were very nice about it. By the way my DDE had been saying 10/21/08-01/17/09. Today it changed to 10/09/08-01/05/09

i wonder if i'll get an 09? my DDE is DEC 08-FEB 09, but if i get an 09 at an 08 price i guess thats fine.

WARNING!!

If you do not like attention, like some have posted. Get some DARK tinted windows when your car arrives.

Last week I even had a SUPER RARE Audi R8 slow down on the highway to have a closer look at my SMART.

I have put 3500 miles in 3 months and in that time I have only seen 3 other smarts, so be prepared for the googly eye popping fan fare.

Per smartUSA, you will only get an 09 at the 08 price IF you take delivery OR your smart is "on the lot" before Jan. 1

I also thought you only needed to reconfigure if you configured a color that was mno more? Also it was stated the 08 price will be the 09 price until Jan. 1, 2009

I was in my smart today and ran across an R8. He didn't seem to care. I, however, was making googly eyes at his car. It looked hot, but then I thought about the 90k I saved for my 2 seater and I felt better.

dsmall24us - Looking at your post is almost like looking in the mirror. I configured on the same day, and my dde is 10-08-08 to 01-06-09. I received a 60 day? notice in mid August without a vin number. The dealer swore I would receive my yellow as ordered. After seeing your post, I'm starting to worry. I will call the dealer Monday. What city are you in?

I configured in August, 2007. My DDE first read "Nov 08 - Feb 09". Then it changed to "10/16/08 - 1/4/09". I got "the E-Mail" from my dealer about 6 weeks ago saying they'll be in touch with more information.

Since then my DDE has changed about once a week - now reading "10/20/08 - 1/9/09".

Configured a Passion Coupe, blue, with everything.

Could it possibly be I'll be getting an '09? Can anyone venture a guess.
