Reservation time to Configuration time to Delivery time

Just received my configuration e-mail within the last hour. I'm getting a Passion, white on black with a red interior. Anxiously awaiting for my Dad to pick up his car, he was lucky enough to be an 1175. Any day now for him!

In case anyone is curious, I'm in Southern CA and my dealer will be Laguna Niguel.

I'm not expecting anything concrete til June 2008, but I wont be mad if they let me buy it around the late April-Early May time frame. Just in time for the summer.

So I was at dealer today to say "hi". Brought my reservation page and my config page. Dealer was nice enough but had no real ideal when I might get the call. He went through his book of "invite pages". My name was not in there. I could see that the last four of all the invite pages reservation numbers were 1173 and or 1174's.

So I have no idea where I am in the big mix. He's still got about 20 cars to sell to reservation holders from his first shipment. T-bone, care to venture a guess when I might be getting the call?

If I had to guess, I would say not later than April. That would be about a 5 month wait after configuration and I haven't seen many longer waits than that. Most fall into the 3-4 month range.

I'm about running even with you. I reserved on 04/01 and configured on 11/9

I'm an 1186.

My dealer is Universal and I too took a stroll over and my name was not on any list.

I spoke with them again during the week and it seems that only a few of the shipment they received were released to the owners. Don't know why that is, but I was sort of hoping for the beginning of March.........

But alas, it will be when it will be.

Today must have been the day for that. We wandered over to visit and see if there was any new news on out 1206 reservation. Also took our first post-rollout test drive (the transmission, I think, was different on the road show cars). Nice driving little car.

I'm B.H. Mercedes Smart. I too was over at Uni the other day and went into to see their layout. Actually took a test drive with the US version. Sooner better than later. That's what I'm hoping for.

Plan on waiting at least 8 months and then at least 90 days more to get your smart.

I Reserved June 30 and have waited 7 months so far and have not configured yet. The more people who order cars, the longer we will have to wait. They can only produce so many.

I am reserving another on February 9th (?) so that I can get in line for a 2009 (I doubt anyone who registers now will get a 2008)
