FYI - KickingTires: Smart's Success Leads to Caution

I'm sure it doesn't comfort those who are waiting, but it sounds like a pretty safe business plan. It's similar to the way Scion controls price by not overproducing cars. The car has to be different and sought after. I wish they would hurry up with the propulsion derivatives though (diesel, electric, mhd, etc.).

I wonder how hard it would be to convert a smart to CNG?

I don't think the CNG conversion is too bad but the filling equipment you'd need is fairly expensive ($6K to $25K). Also don't know how big of a tank we'd get into a smart and what the weight penalty would be.
