'Pensioner kills his wife, dumps her body among Christmas presents, and then kills himself by driving Smart car into tree'

A man murdered his wife and left her body among presents under their Christmas tree before killing himself by crashing his car.
Roger Goswell, 66, was found dying by paramedics after he drove into a tree at high speed.
I guess its possible to die in a crash in any auto, even a smart. Good to know, stay away from trees at high speeds. They sometimes fail to get out of the way.
Don't know about seat belts or airbags. Just another data point on the "safety" of the smart (I'm guessing this was a 450 but don't really know.) There seem to be two extremes when discussing the smart; either it's too small and therefore unsafe for American roads, or it's from Mercedes, has a crash cell and has survived 70 mph fixed barrier crashes so it's invincible. This little factoid illustrates the truth lies somewhere in the middle of those two extreme views.
Or, the story was just so weird I felt like sharing it.

A man murdered his wife and left her body among presents under their Christmas tree before killing himself by crashing his car.
Roger Goswell, 66, was found dying by paramedics after he drove into a tree at high speed.
The man suspected of battering his wife to death with a golf club and leaving her body under the family Christmas tree had been released from a psychiatric hospital days earlier, it has emerged.
Mr Goswell had earlier been released from a privately run psychiatric hospital and his wife was said to have been worried about him returning to their bungalow in generous grounds in their quiet South Downs village.
Mr Goswell, described as 6ft (1.82m) tall, stocky and bespectacled, loved the open road and had a “taste for speed”. Derek Meachim, a fellow golfer at the Arundel Cricket Club Golf Society, said: “The last time I saw him he seemed the same old Roger. He had just bought himself a new Ferrari. He always had a Mercedes sports car before. He had everything to live for. I remember him as one of the nicest people I ever met.
Did he go nuts before or after buying the smart?
If before, does that show that only the homicidal and suicidally deranged blokes buy smart cars?
If after purchase, did he go bonkers because it was perhaps a red car that turned out to be more tomatoe soup than fire engine? Or was it due to the transmission lurching between first and second gears?
Perhaps because he was stocky and couldn't fit in the car?
He must have been insane since Mr Goswell didn't use his Mercedes sports car or the new Ferrari to commit his suicide. He chose, instead, the smart which would have protected him according to all the MB research.
