I saw an electric Smart on the street in Palo Alto a couple of months ago. (it had all sorts of stickers on it saying it was electric). I didn't make a note who was doing it though.
I would assume that is the conversion that George Clooney has been hawking. From what I understand they buy a smart car and throw away the existing drive train and replace it with an electric one for around $40,000. Must be nice to be a star with that kind of money.
