Veerrryyyy sllooowwww pick up. 0-60 in 19.5 seconds. They don't seem to think that it will work well on American roads or that Americans will buy it.

Europeans facing gas prices of $10 - $12 a gallon are much more motivated to try anything to keep their car affordable.

The new cdi has 54 HP and does 0-60 in 15 seconds. Mine is the original with 40 HP, and it takes 20, which is fine by me.

But back on topic, an insider at Transport Canada has confirmed that the mhd is undergoing emissions certification in Canada as we speak.

That 0-60 mph time sounds right based on M-B's announced 0-100 km/h (62.14 mph) time of 16.8 seconds. Probably explained by the torque increase:

Moreover, the new three-cylinder engine delivers maximum torque of 130 Newton metres (an increase of 18 percent).
If M-B brings them to Canada can the USA be far behind? Probably is my guess - the diesel "stigma" is still alive and well here.

Note: mhd, not cdi, is undergoing emissions testing in Canada.

But what engine does the MHD have in it.
One of the Videos from England refered to the MHB as having a Diesel

The mhd all have the naturally aspirated gasoline engine. Start-stop systems are more of a challenge with turbo engines because of the prospect of turbocharger bearings running dry at every shutdown....so some other type of oil circulation system would be needed for the turbine housing to ensure the bearings last more than a year......

For the trivia buffs, the mhd undergoing certification testing in Canada has the following FIN (different syntax than NA VINs as you can see):

WME4513801K282650
