Smart Pure release date?

I have Yellow/Black Pure with Air and tinted windows. Great car and price

1+ year wait so far for my Pure. A/C and red body color are the only 2 options I ordered. I plan on ordering a set of Rial 6-spoke 15" Alloys ($135 each) from the Tire Rack online and lightly tinting the windows, but that's about it.

Was at the dealer on Saturday and they said 69% Passion, 3% Pure and the rest Cabrio.

There has only been like 6 pure's that have been delivered from the Minnesota dealer.

Very interesting- ideally I wanted a Pure Cabrio (used to be in Europe maybe still is) with A/C only...

But I'll end up settling for a Pure with A/C (for re-sale mainly- we only have really hot weather up here for about a month) and I'll put a stereo with Sat Nav in it (seems to be the radio place is the right size for one of those DVD/sat nav things) For wheels I want to remove the hubcaps and install the Euro style center caps from the 450's I think its more attractive.

Eventually Maybe I would do custom wheels...

Funny thing is, I drove one out at Smart Center Latham (Albany NY) and the sales woman said that the orphans are usually pretty strange- like Pures with Radio+glass roof+other options w/o A/C or other strange combos...

My dealer had a Silver/Silver Pure with a Glass roof and no A/C as an orphan.

Why on Earth someone in the DC metro area would get the glass roof and no A/C is beyond me... it's a damn swamp in the summer.

In answer to the original question, I believe the date was around Jan. 2008. Same as all smarts.

Correct me if I am wrong, but is the steel wheel behind the hubcap any different than than what the 450's steelies looked like. I have to admit,on a minimalist vehicle they did look good. I remember a photo somewhere showing a us spec pure with steelies.
