That's AWESOME! I LOVE IT!

But for the life of me, I can't understand why they chose a Cabriolet. Are they planning on running with the top DOWN?

Possibly. It's a targa, meaning it's all on paved roads, and the likelyhood of "offs" are extremely low. I'll be suprised if they are actually allowed to run top down during the special stages, but they could in the transits. I know that one of the local "targas" (much smaller scale) did actually allow convertibles with approved roll cages to run top down, as they were essentially running road course cars that were used to running shorter races with the top down.
