The C-class sales increase of 35% is impressive. My goal is to have a smart and a c-class parked side by side in my garage.

wow, that's good....I expected april sales to crack 2000, but 2,600 is super!

Jan:
1,400 made (smart's estimation)
641 sold (Daimler's announcement)

Feb:
1,500 made (smart's estimation)
1,101 sold (Daimler's announcement)

Mar:
2,000 made (smart's estimation)
1,734 sold (Daimler's announcement)

Apr:
n/a made (smart's estimation)
2,683 sold (Daimler's announcement)

Total sold Jan-Apr:
6,159

For the first trimester alone, ±4,900 car were made, but only 3,476 were sold.
That's ±1,424 made but not sold.
Are those demo, floor display, media, tour, test, etc...?
Are those potential "used" for later this year?

Note: when I talked to the smart's rep, he didn't speak of "sold", but of "registered".
What's the difference? I forgot to ask. Any idea?

Based upon some very specific numbers produced by Schembri (10 MAY 07 - 12,600) and then Penske (09 OCT 07 - 35,400), each to a closest 100, I deduced my 25 JUN (1271) reservation as the 20,088th in line (+/- 200). Attrition and orphanors muddy the waters a little, but it is still obvious that geographic dealer assignment has a big sway, and it can go either way.

Interesting that May sales were only up 12 cars over April, and June sales as of the 24th appear to be 1,146, well below April & May unless things pick up over the next few days.

I was wondering about that too...but that's making the assumption that the 10,000 car was delivered on the 24th, and not earlier with the announcement only coming on the 24th. (my guess it was delivered earlier in the month)

We'll know in a week, when the next monthly sales figure will be released. I suspect that it'll be again with a slight increase.
