smart showroom in Dallas is open

I stopped by the smart showroom at Park Place Mercedes on Lemmon Avenue yesterday. They just opened and are taking reservations now.

They have a car on the showroom floor and expect to have demonstrators in next week.

They said I was the first person they had spoken to that had configured their car with smart and that they would contact me as soon as they receive the official "list" showing when my car would arrive.

Did you ask them what projected delivery date they were quoting for the reservations they are taking on their floor?

Yes, I did. It is their understanding that production is sold out for 2008 and all orders placed will be for the 2009 models. But I guess we already know that- right?

We need to ask:

When do they expect their first delivery?
When can we get a VIN number to track?
How many reservation do they have from the Dallas area?
Do they have a list of us from SMART HQ yet?

I'd love to see my name and order in print at my local Smart house.

To sell the yello smarts. I can see it now, a whole row of them . . . . in 2009

I stop by the dealership today and met their sales rep. They should have the list of reservation holder within a week or two. They will get 26 cars in January and 40 in February. They have 900 reserved in the DFW area. If you have not reserve for one it's now a 1.5 year wait.

Your info is way better than mine, but here it is for us Dallas Smartownerwannabes. Lol, never thought about the connection of having a car dealership on Lemmon Ave!
I guess b/c I'm local and hear that Ave. name on the radio,and traffic reports etc. all the time. Takes an outsider to show us the irony sometimes.

But we are patient kind and professional people, so we would never think of calling/harrassing our local liason to the Smart world.......Hummmm, on second thought....I think I should just delete that one line to be safe.
