Smart Cars will arrive in December

Kuni Automotive announced today it plans to have Smart Cars on its Southwest Canyon Boulevard lot by the end of December for test drives.

The new lot, called Smart Center Portland, will officially open -- meaning the Mercedes-made Smart cars can be sold -- by Jan. 2, said Trang Hamm, the center's partner and general manager.

Kuni was among several local dealerships that applied to be Smart USA dealers. Kuni has known for awhile it had been chosen but couldn't officially confirm that until a recent nod from Smart.

"It's really a sigh of relief that we have the agreement in hand," Hamm said. "We're ready to go."

Yep, my dealership new building looks like its in the home stretch, just mainly interior work now. Haven't seen an official announcement of its opening, but hopefully the first new 451's will hit town by mid January - only 4 weeks away! (I wonder who the lucky Louisvillian will be who gets the first one!)
