Dave van...

Just because I like my Ford trucks

2001 F250 4x4 4 door
2 occupants
Hydroplane into East Texas Pine tree at 65MPH

Passenger got a rope type burn on fat belly from seat belt
Driver...me zero injury...none nadda

6700 pounds, good tires, seat belt retractors worked perfectly as did both air bags...

Was passing at 70~72 mph in 70 MPH zone around a 50mph truck... no oncoming traffic... two lane county highway with zero shoulder...

weather clear but recent rain squall

during pass... left side tires hydroplaned in a truck rut section dropping the left rear tire into the grass mud shoulder...

lost it and went along for the terminal ride straight into a big F..ing tree..slightly off center, pirouetted around and flipped on side hitting next tree in line with tail gate side ways passenger up driver down...

Truck obviously totaled.... every thing inside cabin still worked all doors and windows in order... the spider on windshield is from pass air bag tethered cover on dash

as Much as I have faith in my smart car.... I doubt any of us want to test the result of a similar crash

and if so the reference is irrelevant to todays engineering and safety equipment

I personally think we have done as much as can be done to the equipemnt...it is time to focus on strictly divided high speed roads and proper engineering in all the secondary roads as usual...IMO
