wow, the effects of crumple zone engineering!.. the roads in NE Ohio, now almost June, some areas still have pot holes from winter...used to be they filled them all, now they only fill ones over two inches deep.. but hey, all that money sent to and not accounted for in Iraq, sure could of helped to buy asphalt filler

Actually, the majority of auto accidents are the result of operator error. I agree we've engineered today's cars pretty well; not so much the hundreds of thousands of older ones still on the road. Traffic engineering? Sure, more limited access, divided highways. But the weak link is still behind the wheel. Driver education in the USA, IMHO, is a joke. Driver behavior in most places ditto.

Solution - don't have one. People seem to think it's their right to drive stupid and if you or I suffer for it, too bad.

erm... why does everyone say the crash was Top Gear - it was FIFTH GEAR!!!

Jeremy, James and Hammond didnt like the 450 of the for4 (though they did a 24 hour stint in one) but they didn't do the 70mph crash in to 25 tons of concrete - that was another English car show as said above - FIFTH GEAR

They didn't like the for4 because you could get a better car for less - the for4 was very dear in the UK

Top Gear did do a funny video where they tested cornering of a Lotus, a Pruis, a Czech Car and a for2 - its worth a giggle
