Of course i would have to agree with "Dave Van", never pass up an Orphan. My Smart wasn't an Orphan per se but I was on the orphan list and fully expected to get my Smart from the Orphan list. My Smart has an unusual color and many options all factory installed, all ones I wanted but might not have paid for otherwise. I don't think ANYONE who buys a Smart is stupid and if people are willing to pay extra for dealer installed options then maybe they wanted those options. I think the GREAT thing about being on the Orphan list is that you have the right to "pass" if you don't want it. Let your dealer know you don't want him to load it with options before you get on the Orphan list. If you're like me, getting an Orphan would cut down they 4 to 18+ month wait time and as they say, "buy the Orphan and then sell it when your Smart comes in". Happy Trails!
