"Truth about cars" BAD BAD comments

70 comments, 1 good one out of them all.

Truth about cars...."Not so Smart are you, Mr. Bond"

The comments burn me up. Oddly enough not many of them mention "Deathtrap".

Most of those people seem to have very strong opinions regarding the type of car I drive daily, and they've never driven. I hate to say it, but I've read it all before. My advice to them ... DON'T BUY A SMART! Shut the frack up about my car, and I won't offer you my opinion of your ride (although my opinion likely wouldn't be as ignorant as yours).

I really don't understand why it is that people who are on the boards here get all jerked out of joint about what other people write or say or imply or think about the car that MOST of us here like a lot.People are going to say all kinds of things. Not all of it is going to be positive all of the time.Who knows, for their circumstances,it may be entirely correct that the Smart is not the right thing for THEM.As for MYSELF----I really enjoy boppin' around in our little car.It is a LOT of fun for US.WE have a great time in it and it appears that we bought the"Red Rocker" for the right reason. Now,if we had bought our Smart for the wrong purpose--thinking that it would be used in a way that ended up where the performace or capability was a dissappointment, then I could see how someone might say some negative things about the car.In those situations the disparaging comments would probably be applicable.Ultimately the failure would be in the person buying the car without the correct understaning of what the cars benefit is going to be able to provide.

The reason we care, is because others pick up on these things and we have to defend ourselves against these stupid reports everywhere we go.

Misinformation makes our lives harder than they have to be.

And I would have to say, Folks sure read a lot into a photo didn't they

Agreed. Why should I give a flying f@#$%k what someone else thinks about a car I bought to make *ME* happy?

No, you don't... You can choose not to engage in the debate.

Jeff -

Quite a few of us get jerk out of joint about it because we are truly passionate about our little inanimate objects. I said inanimate object because I do understand it is a little bit weird for some of you normal people to understand how someone can be that way.

Someday you'll be passionate about something in your life and you can figure out just why some of us act that way. Luckily most of use here aren't as bad as this article. I have heard of guy that goes by the username of "jetfuel" here that was seen at the Tail of the Dragon meet being extremely passionate with some SCOA member's cars. That's just a rumor though so take it for what its worth.

In all seriousness Jeff, it may be when someone insults our choices we see it as a personal insult to our intelligence. Actually they are the "not so smart" ones because they didn't research first before they shot off their mouth with their opinion instead of fact finding.

Those blatherskites in the "...Mr. Bond" link really should not quit their day jobs. Did anyone notice the crude attempts at snide humor? The entire spectacle is pathetic.
I wonder if they have group jokes about, say, a wide angle shot of a Hummer lot of late?

Don't buy a Smart if you don't like them, and shut the bloody h*ll up.

It's just good, clean laughs to push your buttons and watch owners get all defensive and indignant and self-importantly smug at buying "a pig in a poke." The feel good factor might salve the ego, but it doesn't revive the manufacturer, ensure long-term parts availability and repairs, nor create a resale market.

So the reviewers poke at you, and watch you jump to the bait.

Better'n a day at the circus!
