Mandzak sells Mercedes-Benzes and the Maybach, an expensive offshoot of the Mercedes, which sells for between $350,000 and $400,000.
He also sells the new SMART car, a sub-compact that has interchangeable color polyurethane panels outside and a three-cylinder engine. It’s a collaboration of the Swatch watch company of Switzerland and Mercedes-Benz.
The autos are sold from what Mandzak calls “an unconventional dealership” — Mercedes-Benz of Beverly Hills — that doesn’t look like a car dealership at all.
“It’s a big, granite building with a marble archway,” he said. “There are no outside signs, no outside lot.”
I noticed your #1173. Is that your confirmation number? Because mine is 0505611173. Looks like the same - how can that be?
Welcome to the 1173 Club. Everyone who reserved on March 17 was date stamped 1173 as the last four numbers. The rest of your number is the time backwards 160505 Pacific Time. or 4:05:05 PM. I did mine around noon, so I was three hours and perhaps a few hundred reservations, before you.
Just to make sure I understand, the 16:05:05 should be 4:05:05 pm (1600 is 4 pm on the 24 hr clock.) So my reservation number, 5422111173, translates to
11:22:45 am Pacific time? Inquiring minds want to know.

542211 is 11:22:54 am PT. 1173 is a Day One reservation. Congrats you beat me by an hour!
Not to worry, LA will have cars before our central Ohio dealer (Pauly Walnuts of Columbus) does.
Vinnie told me this week that 65 cars are expected on or around January 15. He'll have his list VERY soon and tell me how far down a Day One Noon reservation is on the list.
