What color combo will have the bast resale?

So I recently decided to change my order color from black to silver not because I liked the silver more but because I think others will like the silver more and in turn it will be a more attract resale.

I will be upfront that I don't plan on keeping my original smart for more then a year and am hoping to see the value hold up their if the demand is there. Now before you go asking why I don't plan on keeping it... let me just say it, I want the diesel and I want it bad!

So, what are your thoughts, what color vehicle will have the best resale?

There's no accounting for taste. I'd only say that black would prolly be the hardest to sell. This year and next I think color won't be a problem for resale at all. hehehe

Who knows? But, I won't let resale affect my decision, (which today is all black). The picture of the black Smart in Playboy had me thinking about a red interior, for those that haven't seen the picture, it looks great.

But, after thinking more about it I remembered that one of the cool things about the Smart is the ability to change the body panels, so giving it a red interior limits options later on for me or a potential buyer.

I too am thinking that the next or the year after will have options available that will have me trading out of this first generation car...Brabus being the most interesting.

I'd buy what I like because you never know what the future will bring. Personally, when shopping for a car I won't even look at a light silver one - even though my MINI was dark silver and I would love the opportunity to have that color on the Smart. I like keeping my cars polished and spotless, and I want a car that will reflect, (pun intended) all my efforts.

I'm thinking of duplicating my wifes Lexus IS - all black with chromed Foose wheels...and, if I can get the wheels or a close approximation, I'm going to do it.

A car dealer (Caterham) once told me that yellow and green were the two most difficult colors to re-sell. They weren't too bad on initial sales as they went to a niche market that actually specified them (British Racing Green and Lotus Yellow going into competition use), but the re-sell market is much broader. He said red was the easiest in the road market.

Well, I reserved yellow/black and not pay too much attention to resale value. If I do sell it towards the end of next year, the resale value (probably of any colors) is going to be high with demands exceeding supply.

Gee Perry, that's a shock that you would order yellow/black. You're not the bumblebee for nothing.

White is very popular ...

but I think silver will probably have the best resale value. Every year the paint mfg. announce the most popular color for each size/style car (4-door sedan, roadster, etc.) and silver has been in the the top three for at least the last few years. White is popular with 4-door sedans as its used by a lot of fleets (utilities, rentals, government, etc.) but interestingly enough its also the color most involved in accidents (perhaps the fleet drivers?) ... to me silver hides the dust/dirt better than most others and the metallic finish is great.

Useless polls.

Why leave out yellow in your, so called poll?

The resale value of a collectable car is based ,in part, on the color and trim that most typifies that year and model. Black won't be it.

If you worry resale value, sell the potential buyer the unlimited possibility of changing the body panels with all the colors that is available. It may even offer more colors later. If you check out the different Smart colors available in different countries,
