They say, White is the easiest to resell.
With that said, the smart IS as much as a Niche market as one could find, there has been throughout this forum discussion on how difficult it is to pick a color, with one specific posting stating, 'it probably doesnt matter, I would be happy driving any of them.' This is so true, look at the Swatch Towers, they all look good. Then look at any other manufacturers cars, blah blah blah well that one isnt that bad of a color.
Last point, look at the colors that PAG has used for marketing the last couple months ... Blue against the tile mosaic wall..... at LA Car Show Blue,Red, and... The Brabus Racer at the smart house is Yellow. I have noted that Silver is the marketers choice for the Tridion cell.

In the niche / collectable car market "resale red" is a common reference.

I'm in the same boat. I plan to sell mine the minute the CDI is available. As long as demand is outpacing supply, they won't add any new lines. They add the new lines to keep the demand from going down.

The count on a bunch of us selling our used ones for the new ones that offer something we want that we couldn't get before. All the car manufacturers do this. Basically, extending the product life cycle.

Providing it isn't tomato soup red....If you want to be noticed at night, it is Yellow...fire engines changed from red to yellow for a reason - visibility. And that little thing is soooooo small.

In my home town, the fire engines are still red. When we first moved there, they were White. There are a couple of towns that have yellow around here, but red is still the most popular. I have also seen a yellowish-green.

Off topic.... sort of

Those of you waiting for a diesel version are probably in for a disapointment... I think we will see hybrid electric and pure electric (pun intended) before we see CDI.

The future clean air standards have hosed it up real good and the micro Smart will probably not have the space needed for all the things a diesel motor requires to comply

It would be real nice if our schizophrenic government could get on the same page, or lead enough, that world wide we all agree on rational standards....

Between Panel, Tridion & Interior there are a lot of variations, I count 60. It may turn out that passion cabriolet's are hottest in any color, or pure's because of the low price. I expect to see some bold custom painted panel color's hit the road within a couple of months.

I went with black-black-black hoping it would look real shinny and not too abundant.
