Billc (a regular here) has confirmed that he got the email for his 1229 and ifishcat (also a regular) confirmed a 1228 email. So we know for certain that 1226 should have gotten the nod.

pjneedster (a 2 week veteran with 3 posts ) reported the confirmation on a 1231 and eodsgm (a 1 month veteran with 1 post) reported the receipt on a 1233.

Within 5 minutes after I called Smart this morning I had my email so call them Monday asap. Remember they are on west coast time.

A few years ago (2004) at this very domain www.smartcarofamerica.com a page was posted taking money ($55) by credit card or Paypal and promising a place in line for a smart. Where they were going to find anything other than possible gray market G+K cars back then is anyones guess.

I almost made the same error!!! Around the middle of March, I kept going from one site to the other trying to figure out which one was the legit one or maybe they both were competing with each other...wasn't sure. The scammer site, as posted above, showed a man and a women with a Smart behind a scene that appeared to have been one from Europe somewhere as the streets were cobblestone as I can recall...the architecture anyway appeared to be European. Being the contrarian investor that I am, I chose the higher priced one just out of the thinking that if it was too good to be true, it wasn't true...that being the same deal for $44 less. So I went with the $99 deal....PHEW!! One of the reasons I didn't get a lower number, like 1173 instead of 1174 was that one day deciding which site to send the money to. Man o man......

It's a shame now to see those of you who were lucky enuff to get your reservation in by April or so to get a "second half of 2008" notice, although most of you seem satisfied with that. Since I did mine in Aug....it's depressing to think I may not see my car till next winter if I'm lucky.

I got my reservation in on 4/28/07 (12/13) and configured on 12/14/07. In my confirmation email it stated "We are pleased to inform you that we may be able to deliver your smart fortwo during the second half of 2008."
Am I satisfied with that, Of course not. It is what it is" and I have no control over when my delivery is available. Hopefully it will be EARLY second half of 08, or better yet, 1st or 2nd qtr of 08
