so we have people who reported with a #1231 getting a config notice on 12/15 AND we have people before that number not getting any contact But
BillC #1229 called yesterday 12/15 and was sent a email that same day which means that group should have gotten one

I just took a chance and called the 800 number in the middle of writing this post. I was surprised that customer service WAS working on Sunday! However they were not very helpful. They could find me in the system but could not confirm my specific information. I told them about the information above. They said yes I was in the group that would get notified in a week or so. I told them specifically of BillC's experience (without naming names of course) who has my same number and they said again they can't see the specific info and I would be getting a notice in a week or so. The cust service rep didn't sound too confident from my perspective, didn't seem to understand what the reservation number meant and seemed wishy washy. I will make another call tomorrow and I will call every day until I get my email invite *inserts evil laughter*

You are assuming that everyone who reserves on a given day will receive a confirmation on the same day. Bad assumption. They may take some time to go through a given day's reservations.

I first sent them an email then called to early in the day and left a message then called later Saturday and spoke with a man who new about my problem. He then sent me the email within a few minutes.

I feel great about getting this far.

True, but I think it's the 1231 being processed that sets up that assumption. If they got through to that then I assumed they should have gotten through 1229 too. Maybe the Smart person handling the 1229 bunch took a half day

Or its geographic. My guess is load balancing to insure dealers in one city aren't overloaded while others are left dry. During the smart tour a bunch would, I assume, come in all from one city one week. Those would need to be spread out over a few days/weeks, depending on demand.

"There has been a change in how invitations are going out. Prior to yesterday's (12-14-07) group, all invites had been purely on a date basis. Beginning with yesterday's invite, they have started balancing the invitations by dealer.

Basically, they are trying to level out deliveries to the dealer - so an individual location doesn't have 200 deliveries one month, and 3 the next. So a absolute date comparison will be tough to do, going forward. Places in line won't be lost - you will still be in the same place in line in your region.

(This approach has been rumored before - but had not been decided on. This change is part of why it's been two weeks since the last group was invited. Balancing 70+ dealers is not easy)."

This is a clear explanation of why some reservists have been notified in numerical order and others have not. Still, if you have concerns you should certainly contact smartUSA.

Sounds logical but frustrating for those that feel soooo close A lil info like that helps. Thanks

Makes sense from a logistics perspective, although I will suck for some of those who registered very very early. Of course, people like me will have to wait for a long while anyway.

It is probably still a good idea to post new numbers - it'll give the rest of us an idea of how far along they are .

I also just sent a nice inquiry email. I added to it that I think it's fair to expect that people who reserved at the same time get to make their confirmations before others who came after or else why bother with the reservation system to "get in line". Do I expect much of a response? nope, but I think we should get our feedback in at least.
