I got this e-mail from my dealer and it blew me away. All you worry warts are up for a rude awakening.

"Well the showroom is almost done, and our initial allocation I understand is on the water right now, so here they come!! We should be ready for early Jan. 08. There are I think going to be some available units as the first allocation had been sent randomly and will not match any orders. Let me know if you want a shot even if it's not what you ordered. Thanks!!"

hehehe? Nice try, But two things come to mind...

There are thousands of 1173,1174,1175,1176, etc that have reserved, been confirmed, and are configured for a specific car....

There are only so many permutations of the 3 basic cars. When "stock" cars are ordered they usually conform to most popular or "typical" configurations.

It is highly unlikely that any car produced does not fit exactly what several of the first weeks 4000+ reservation holders has configured....

So I seriously doubt any "available units as the first allocation had been sent randomly" will not match any orders...

And considering the few cars on the first boat, relative to the 4000+ first week reservations.... Don't you think a scheme like that would seriously tick off the very early "insiders"?

My 'tude is; If my dealer sent a note like that, I would not trust the dealer very much.

But as Carnut said... chain yank...on Internet forums generally is a troll...and I just violated the troll rule...

I asked my dealer about availability of early cars, and he said they were all spoken for, or they were demo only cars.

Believe what you want. This e-mail was real. Whether he can stick to it remains to be seen. I know we've all been told that reservations come first and foremost. Some areas are far more saturated with reservations than others. Let the speculations begin....oh, they already have.

It is not my intention to buy a car this early even if I could. I will not reveal the dealer, however, since he will no doubt be inundated with callers. I just wanted you to see the latest in crazy news and it will probably not be the last. Take it with a grain of salt. I am, until I have something more solid, myself. The salesman may not have all the information either.
