30 miles on a full charge?
That's not as much as I'd hoped.

That's not so bad though and she had all the loads on there, too. I'd like to see a alittle more but did you see how quickly and easily he extended his range? And look at the difference in the amount of miles traveled per energy unit!!!!Nearly 3 times!!
A slick little generator like that could easily be retrofitted into the car for a much longer range, making it then into a PHEV, not an EV. This is the very direction that GM is heading in for the Chevy Volt except with Li ion batteries by 2010. That glimpse into the future was refreshing!

Loved seeing that video!! Very encouraging for me as that is the direction I am heading in with my Smart...either DIY or via Smart's own design sometime in the not-to-distant future.

GREAT NEWS! Thanks for that post!

John

If you download torrents.

Vicki compares the new electric powered Smart ED to it’s gasoline powered counterpart, the Smart FourTwo.

Well...sort of...

Try A/C, radio, headlights, and wipers...

This makes me wonder about how the A/C is run...It would have to be some sort of electric compressor...
I'm sure this will be a real problem for us in the states...Two hour traffic jams in 95* heat...oh man...

I dont know what kind of heater the electric smart has, it may work like a heat pump or the other kind would be an even more power thirsty, coil resistance or hair dryer.
It may have traveled quite a bit further with no heater but no matter how you look at it, this EV smart is good for short trips only.
