Oil Change Video

I would really appreciate if someone could make a video showing how to change the oil in a 451.

Any other maintenance videos would also be greatly appreciated!

I am wondering if there is something special about lifting the car. I am taking mine to a Mercedes dealership on Monday for an oil change.

Can something break under there if lifted wrong?

But to answer your question, Meaux, yes you can damage things if you jack in the wrong place. In the rear, jack on the ends of the DeDion tube. That's that 3" diameter metal tube facing rearwards (just inside the wheel) as you look under the car. Ofcourse, if removing a wheel, place a jackstand under that bar just forward of where you are jacking. Not sure about where to jack on the front but generally you want to find a frame point or someplace on the suspension that's solid and that leaves you a place to put a jackstand for safety.
I would say if all else fails, consult the owners manual and see where they suggest to jack....;)

Mucho discussion of jacking points. For the oil change, you might just want to run the opposite side rear wheel up on a 2x6 or similar to allow the oil to flow toward the drain plug.

If they break it, they have to fix it...

They'll know how to lift it.

smart on a lift

The dealerships have 4-point lifts sized for the smarts. The lift arms are positionable under all four of the car's lift (jack) spots and 'up it goes.'

Not video...but oil change images..

...from the first oil change performed at the Bloomington, MN smart center. Enjoy!

Here's a small image of the lift placed on the rear jack point. The flash makes the 'wintery dirt' look yellowish...
