Ok!! I went and got my oil changed today at a Mercedes dealership that is NOT affiliated with smartusa. They charged me 25.00 for labor. I brought my own filter and paid for oil too. 3.5 quarts.
I got to watch and I helped the technician find the fluids. When I pulled into the service area, salesmen and service technicians were running out to see my little smart. Everyone loved it and they are happy to do routine maint for me even though they cannot do warranty work. I will post pictures soon.

2Mutch, are you on the West side? I'm soon to get my twin to your blue guy there... We might run into each other some time! Mine should be here in about 2 weeks or so.. and I think I'm going to go through with it... I'm starting to allow myself to get excited about it again! Hearing such great things about the Bloomington center has made me feel better about taking the chance on the little guy.

So, a smart should fit on a regular gas station lift? Therefore we can have the A service done at a regular gas station and the B at the dealer...

Yep, I'm 'just west' of Minneapolis in St. Louis Park. Glad to hear that you're heading toward smart ownership. IMO you won't be dissapointed and if like my experience so far...you'll LOVE it!

I have talked with Jason, the manager at Bloomington smart center, on being the 'point man' for a MN smart chapter. I'm tentatively hoping to organize a smart meet-and-greet sometime in the second half of May. Kinda' depends on my schedule (doesn't everything?) and the availability of a certain old-fashioned drive-in restaurant I frequent.

Feel free to PM me and we can share phone numbers / email addresses to stay in touch.

Is it a car? Is it a mind set? It's BOTH!

...most lifts will have arms that can extend out to match the smart's jack points. The only issue I envision if the dealer's lift doesn't have extendable arms (only ones that pivot..like all do). In other words, there might be a chance that a given lift wouldn't be 'small enough' to reach/pivot to the smart's lift points..possible, but not too likely IMO.

You should be good to go assuming you have your own filter handy. Most any oil change place should have a good/recommended synthetic oil, but not as likely (yet) to have access to or stock a recommended filter.
