Smart sliding on the ice :(

Some peeps in the UK with too much time on their hands shot a bunch of cars sliding on an icy corner, and put it to some house music. Smart fortwo fails at about 2:10. What was his ESP thinking?

Yikes, the smart performed terribly. It may have been the driver.

Probably wrong i.e. summer tires (tyres) but the biggest issue is folks are getting hard on the brakes at exactly the wrong point in the slide.

The Smart was maybe going a bit quicker but the driver got it all wrong.

So, that was a pretty funny video - and yes, I live in Sunny California, so I don't have to do worry about this much...thank goodness!

I wondered if the smart was such a problem due to the light weight of the car, or the driver, or both! And, whoever the camera people were....why didn't they get out and put a sign, call authorities, whatever, to mark the ice? Love the sound addition at the very end ... clunk.

I encountered ice here in NJ but did not have any where as much trouble as the one in the video. It doesn't help if they all seem to drive on the wrong side of the road.

Gee, I think this was a Police Dash cam that caught all this stuff. Go where the action is. Folks were watching the cop and wern't watching the road.

I think you are right. They probably saw the police car and slowed down too quickly which added to the situation. I once almost rear ended some one when they slowed too much when they saw the police car.

Watch 3:15 and I'm sure you'll take back how much the smart did badly. That sedan did the same thing as the smart (450 btw) but caused an accident and even caused the cameraman to cuss.

I'd say it's more towards driver error, most of the other vehicles ran off the left side while the smart and that sedan held on until the end of the turn to wipe out.
The busses were awesome with drifting around that turn!
That truck at about 1:14 was a big when it nearly tipped...

The drivers on the other side must have been cracking up.

P.S. I really don't think that this is anything bad on smart's part...
