Almost two years ago, we announced that smart would be coming to the United States. It's now June 2008, and smart fortwos can be seen on roads of America from coast to coast. 70 smart centers have delivered nearly 10,000 smart fortwos into the hands of eager new owners. We thank you for your continued enthusiasm and support for the smart brand.
This past month has been very exciting for us at smart USA. The smart fortwo has continued to amaze fans and critics alike with outstanding results from the foremost safety agencies in the country. It received the highest ratings for front and side crashworthiness from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS). The tremendous rise in fuel costs has encouraged thousands of people around the country to join the smart revolution and place reservations for their very own smart fortwo. And to add to the excitment for this unique vehicle, smart USA launched its exciting new social networking website for enthusiasts around the country,

For those who have not yet taken delivery of a smart fortwo, we understand how anxious you are and we are working to provide you with more specific information regarding the status of your individual order. Reservation Holders whose vehicles are in route from Germany should have been notified by smart USA and their dealer. All other Reservation Holders can check the estimated 90 day window of anticipated delivery by using the "Delivery Date Estimator" tool on

In mid-May, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) released its results of the smart fortwo frontal and side crash tests.
