picked up in Cary

I picked up my car in Cary yesterday, 11 months to the day from reserving! The transaction went extremely smoothly and I was very pleased with the dealership. They have received 10+ cars in the last few days (since 2/14), split in 3 shipments. They are also apparently going to deliver some cars scheduled to be delivered from Va Beach, telling me in Cary that Va Beach may not open till April. They expect a few orphans that they know of and their orphan list is comprised mostly of folks who have actually visited the dealership and registered. I saw several blues, reds, silver, and yellow at the dealer. No whites.

I love my car!! Best of wishes to the rest of you, I hope yours are delivered soon so you can begin enjoying them.

Cary paperwork problem

I thought the transaction went smoothly, until I went to the Virginia DMV to get title and tags for our new car! The Cary NC dealer is holding the Manufacturers Certificate of Origin! They tell me that it will take a week to "process paperwork" which he later defined as sending the payment made via cashier's check to "corporate" for deposit and they have to wait for it to clear!!! ??? Has anyone else had to deal with this kind of bs?

I was in Raleigh on Monday, so I stopped in Cary to check out the dealership. Thre were 3 cars in the showroom, a loaded Red Cab demo and about 6 locked sold cars outside and several others at "the shop" according to the sales people there. It is a small location among a whole bunch of company owned dealerships and is located beside the Merc B dealer (they also sell Maybachs). I was offered a test drive, but declined as I didn't think it was fair to put miles on their car when I will be getting mine in Pittsburgh, Pa. I inquired about Doc Fees and received an icy stare and a shambling "take it or leave it" explanation of the $398 item. They said they don't have any accessories yet, but had smart hats etc. displayed in the showroom. An interesting sidelight was that when we pulled in to the group of dealerships the smart location was not in sight so I stopped at one of the other locations to ask. There was a sales person with a headset on standing in front of a showroom (Dodge maybe?) who upon being asked where the smart joint was, immediately said they are sold out but we have cars now - in other words, trying to steal me, the the "up", from smart! In all, they seemed like nice folks at the smart store, but I'm glad I will only have to start a fight over $55 rather than $398!

Cary NC paperwork

After review, the Cary NC dealer has decided to go ahead and overnight the mfg cert of origin to me, but will not send till tomorrow. Still better than the week they explained earlier....

OC1Dave - Thank you!

Thanks for the note about Cary, you made me laugh!

I was their first customer who complained often and loudly about the high doc fee - I know that icy stare well. I told them at the time to get used to complaints about the fee, but they thought I was a crazy lady. I am sure it was a precious moment when you asked.

Then when I had to take the car back for the "inspection" they thought I was nuts for asking for a loaner car so I could make it to work and back. They have all those Minis and MBs just sitting there!

They really are tired of me already.

Cary

I don't think I made any friends there with insisting that they provide required paperwork on a timely basis...nor with my constant emails prior to finally getting the car in...but all is well now. Time will tell when I need service. Did they finally give you a loaner car? If I drive 3 hours for service what am I supposed to do without a car??? The MB dealer here in town provides loaners for service work, I would have expected that from them as well.
