I did talk to south charlotte dealer thursday and he said first cars will be here in two weeks. Dealership will also be ready then still working on it as of yesterday. Anyone live near me on the lake? We can invade the car shows they have near local icecream hang out!

Hello Carolinians. Been checking both Charlotte and Winston dealer for updates since I live midway between both. Finally received email notification last night from SmartUSA on pending delivery to the Winston dealer. Call to dealer this morning unfortunately did not offer any additional details as they said they had no specifics only that they expected delivery of first cars sometime mid to late next week. But he did confirm they are track to open and have dealer license in hand; just need the cars.

Called Lori of Bob Neill Mercedes/Smart and she says that the rule of thumb that they see as happening is that if you reserved in April 07 your car would be ready April 08 and November 07 reservations would be November 08 and so on. If she is correct in her assumptions then I may get mine in Nov. 08. That would work for me!

because the '1173' club reserved 3/17 and many will get their cars before the end of Jan ... I want to believe this because mine was reserved 4/3 so would expect an early Feb delivery ... we'll see (BTW I'm a 1188 resv)

Received confirmation follow-up call from Lee at Winston MB this afternoon and he was able to provide me my VIN. He stated they were awaiting final login information that would allow them to sign in to national network and hoped to have more information this evening for me.

I visited Baker Motors today and talked to one of the salesmen, Justin Glenn. He and the rest of the Baker staff are anxious to get the smarts in. Construction on the smart showroom area just started this week and they don't expect to be ready until early March.
Having a reservation of 1187, it's quite possible I'll be getting a call from Charlotte or Atlanta. If shipments are as slow as the confirmations, maybe not.
Anyone who lives near a dealer that won't be ready for awhile, will also be in this situation. GOOD LUCK!!

I talked with Matt this morning could here construction in the background. He said Smart rep was due in the 28th. of this mo. to inspect dealership and first 30 cars will be in by then. All of store fixtures are sitting in two containers on the property. He has parts list but no part #'s all weather mats,rear cargo net, ect.
