Baker Motors is open as noted in the news column. The first car was delivered on Wednesday March 26. Article is from the Summerville newspaper.

Hmmm, that's the exact car I configured!

First of all, February 2007?! Reservations didn't open until March 19th.

Got a call into Bakers. Hopefully they have begun getting some info about the cars. My DDE range is March 22 - June 20, so hopefully the car is sitting at the dealership...

Maybe she got yours..the DDE says the same thing about my car March 22 - June 20.

Yes, I saw that thing about February 2007. Just remember it was a newpaper article.

Let me know if you get some better information from Baker. I called early last week but did not get a thing.

Ugh Arthur, you're not helping me! I've already begun a paranoid rant to the hubby about how they've sold my car to someone else!! I've been staring at that picture in the article all day screaming, "That's MY car!"

Anyway, I've had no luck today - two calls in to Bakers have not been returned. I'm hoping for some info tomorrow, and will let you know...

Just got off the phone with Baker. Initially told me they hadn't even been notified of the 60-day window of delivery for my car. After hanging up and drinking ferociously (me!), they called back and said basically, oops, they actually have info and my car will be there near the end of April. Got the magical VIN #, too. OMG, still a painful wait, but hopefully nearing the end!

I was told they've delivered three cars already, and have five more ready (nothing to test drive). Still a little perturbed as to the lengthier than necessary wait, but I'm hoping to feel better with the little guy in my presence...good luck to all others!

CC - you should have some company soon in the form of a blue/black cabrio near the end of May in MP!

Thanks for the update; since I am 4 days behind you for reserving, I'll wait a couple of weeks before I call again.

Most Excellent!

Driving back from Asheville I took over from my wife just about Columbia and my general impressions are these:

You have to "drive" this car. Only on the best of days can you sit back and relaxingly cruise down the highway. Both hands must be "death gripped" to the wheel as she tends to bob here and there dealing with the truckers and wind gusts. I love it.

I hit N. Chas. and all hell broke loose in a terrific rainstorm and because I had not yet mastered the defroster and windshield wipers I almost bought the farm. Pulling on this I got the windshield washer fluid in a storm. Then I pushed that and got my rear wiper going and couldn't stop it to try and get the front ones going. Looking out my front window the most I saw was the tack & clock. Finally, with the defroster working, I saw Awendaw. Not that there's much to see here.

I'm assuming on your path you drove over the Don Holt Bridge, which has become my major concern. It's typically so windy I have to struggle with my Chevy Blazer on a good day! I'm a little concerned with the Smart, how did it do?
