Both of these maps have the line drawn too far south on the east coast. Please note the location of the Mason-Dixon line which is the political dividing line between the north and the south:

BTW,
Even during the civil war, Texas was considered part of the Southwest, not the South. In fact, it wasn't until the Lyndon Johnson presidency that any respectable Texan would admit they were part of the U.S. But you already knew that Snakefarm.
