This is what my friend posted in the smartusainsider forum:
"Hey Everyone,
I have gottn my little "blue baby" to a very caring repair shop - Foreign Car Body & Repair in Bhm. While they have not had a Smart before, They are well versed in dealing with foreign cars (and their intricacies). Additionally, the owner is a Smart enthusiast and he currently has one ordered (DDE May 2009). I feel so much better knowing someone that is truly interested in this car will be handling the repairs. I went by there after work and they were all amazed at how wonderfully this car held up - there is NO damage to the suspension, frame or motor - only headlight, service portal area and body parts. I did talk to the person I was knocked into (97 Acura) and his vehicle's roof crumpled and they are totaling his car! Guess the Smart packs a real Wallop! Additionally, he has developed some pain and injuries and had to go to the hospital yesterday for intestinal bruising. Sure hope he gets OK. One of the first questions he asked me this morning was "What was thing you were driving?"
As for me, I have a few new sore areas, but they are all seat belt related. I am fine and pleased to say that my SMART will be too."

The case has been turned over to our "Hit and Run" Detectives to be investigated. Smart Center Birmingham and Crown Mercedes doesn't have a body shop. I pointed her to a body shop that I know does do good work and has done several repairs for me, including restoring my '75 Celica and most recently, my DW's car.
When I find out what the estimate is, I'll post it. When the repairs are done, I'll post that also.
