10-06-08: Orphans in Warwick RI

Just went to the Warwick RI dealership and, for the first time, saw Smarts out front with "For Sale" tags on them. Seven or eight of them. None of them fit my criteria, so I'm still waiting for mine (which, once again, has moved out THREE more days to account for not moving over the weekend... this now marks 10 days where the date has moved out 10 days as well). Someone go buy 'em!

You are very close on the build date. When the difference switches to 7 days your car has been built. The DDE difference should stay at 7 days for up to 4 days then start counting down. When it switches to negative (after about another week), the car has been loaded on the ship.

My DDE stayed at 11 for about a week before beginning its final countdown.

NO, I think you miss understood JD. Our dates have gone from 10/10/08-1/19/09 to 10/29/08- 1/23/09. After we made the $1000.00 deposit the dates have gone farther away . This was just over the last 10 days. When we made the deposit the woman at the dealer said we should get the car around 11/11/08 and when JD went today they said end of November.

Guess your dealer doesn't trust you to hold up your end of the deal after waiting so long! That wouldn't fly with me - I'd get another dealer.

:shrug: Not really an option. The other dealers are north of Boston (a good hour and a half away) or in Hartford, CT.

I don't know if there's an overall policy about deposits. I assume some dealers aren't asking for them, by your reaction? I think I've also read on the boards where other dealers have not only asked for a 1k deposit but also told their people that they only had days to come down and do it. I guess they're all getting tired of having orphans on their hands?
