10k Service Today

Just thought I'd post this up here, I had my firsth service this morning @ smart center Nashville. My appointment was at 8:00am and I was out the door at 8:40am sharp. I have a prepaid service agreement, and nothing was needed on my end.

I know that the 10k service is pretty short compared to the 20k or 60k service, but it was a breeze. I actually rolled 10,000 miles as I turned into the lot. Can't believe I've only had the car for 3 months and one week (bought it July 25th)!

The only "bad" part of the situation was the service guy was mad as the sales guy for scheduling an 8:00am appointment (he was there, and working) when the smart side of the dealership doesn't open until 9. Was a little rude, but, hey, it's Monday. I let it roll off. I asked him about the 450 that was parked outside of service, and he also said something like "Jeff told the guy to bring it here and we'd look at it. No way, I'm not touching it." Was kind of funny.

going in tomorrow for my 10k. Hope it not real pricy, if I could figure out how to do the reset of the maint. indicator, I would do the service myself.

Actually, if you want to do it yourself, you can simply ignore the indicator. It will simply start showing -1, -2........etc., as the days pass beyond the scheduled service intervals. It will only do that for a few minutes and the display will return to normal. You can still keep track of your service needs just as you always did before computers were running your life; read the odometer. When they design a truly efficient system, the computer will sense fresh oil, new filters, etc. and leave you alone.

Go ahead with the first service. Get to know them and develop a relationship. You may really need them someday and its things like the 10K service that keeps them around for real work.

That being said, Look here for details and tips on resetting your wrench
Maintenance indicator reset (service wrench)
Just remember, resetting the wrench does not mean everything is OK. You should still change your oil and replace filters as needed.

Yea I read most of those but I have an 09, has any one been able to reset the 09 yet, I thought they (Smart) changed it where we (Owners) can't do the reset.

Thanks

Which method did you use on your 09, I read through some of the threads on the reset procedures and there are so many variations that I'm not sure which to try.

Thanks

According to Park Place in Dallas the 10K service is 139.00. I haven't tried it yet. So if you have, let me know if that's correct. If your dealer was more or less I would like to know that too.
Have a smart day,

I was told that the first service was about $140 also, it's .8 hours of service, plus oil, oil filter and cabin filter. Seeing as how my prepaid maintenance was $1200 for 10 visits and that the first one looks to be the cheapest, I think I came out ahead on that deal.
