1180 Cancellation
I have canceled my order for my smart. There will be an Orphan at the JaxSmart Center in the near future I think. It is a Black w/Silver tridon Passion. Pods on dash. Comfort package, leather ect. No fog lights, security, or multi disc player... Pretty car actually. Put your name on the list to get it.

True. Tired of waiting. Needed economy. Opted for the Yaris.

Score: 36
Highs: Front access, turning circle, hatchback versatility
Lows: Acceleration, handling, vague shifter
The Yaris is the smallest and least expensive car Toyota sells in the United States. It actually ranks at the top of the list in both reliability and low cost of ownership, but those factors are not included in Consumer Reports' basic vehicle score. Read the statement better.

I like Consumer Reports for their objective look at the world; they do great tests of stoves and microwave ovens. They don't get cars and never have. Here's what they said about the Yaris:

And since reliability and low cost of ownership aren't included in their score, the Yaris rates as one of the "10 worst." YGBSM!
You beat me to it, Bob.

Thank-you. I am sure the Smart will be good, however due to my situation I need something soon. Fuel is eating me alive.

Thank-you for posting your story. It helps to see different viewpoints and situations and I'm sure people in high places are taking note. I was following a Yaris today and I thought to myself that it was a nice car. A good choice if you needed a backseat, and still relatively compact. Glad you found a car that will work for you. Toyota makes very good cars and you can get serviced anywhere.

(from another thread, 3/1/2008)
I realize with no firm info from the dealer, you probably don't want to take the chance that mid March turns into mid-April. Too bad you couldn't hold on just a little longer, or find alternate means (carpool, public transit) to avoid the gas bill.
