I have waited a long period. I did some math work as well. Looked at interest, rebates, dealer fees, ect. Minus ABS and Wheel control or something like that, I got all the same stuff in the Yaris. Plus I dont have to go 80 miles for service, one way. Also theYaris is not an insurance "who, what". In fairness that is changing too. Plus the warranty is longer. The 1.5 ltr engine in it has been around for decades, it is bullet proof. The Yaris was/is the best choice for me now. MPG is very close to the Smart. The only thing it does not have is the Cute Factor, and all the people wanting to take pictures and talk about it. That will fade soon.
Good point smart card. almost 4 dollar a gallon diesel is one factor. next is the most bang for my buck. doing the math, the Yaris gives me more bang for my buck.
Understood.. I am 5 ft 4in and a stocky 175. Well hell a little fat too. Fit fine. Mabey later for the Smart. When deliveries are at least resonable. Plus my dealer is in town, not 80 miles away. I got the 3 door modle. Black as well. Has the same seats as the Scion it would seem Lots of storage.
I have canceled my order for my smart. There will be an Orphan at the JaxSmart Center in the near future I think. It is a Black w/Silver tridon Passion. Pods on dash. Comfort package, leather ect. No fog lights, security, or multi disc player... Pretty car actually. Put your name on the list to get it.
Thanks for the heads up...I'll call them in the morning, because black/silver with comfort package is what I'm looking for...plus Florida is so far known for not adding ridiculous add-ons and well I can add a vacation while I'm at it. Well see, I'll call them tomorrow to see if anybody has grabbed it/deposited it.
Fog, security and disc player can be added later...so not a bad orphan...only thing I'd like more is a Cabrio...but beggars can't be choosers.
My number is a couple hundred higher, but this is close enough. I just called and they don't have an answering machine...ring, ring, ring, ugh. oh well. Did they tell you about when it'll arrive? I plan to go to Florida next week for a week so this may work out perfect! Or not. ;)

Yeh, the Smart has some major issues, but so long as the rareness of it lasts the value with too, but should there be abundance or competition then it'll plummet in value, which at this point is unlikely in the near future. However, I had serious considerations like yourself to get a small compact car and cancel my Smart. Bottomline for me is I've been wanting this car since it hit Canada and there's been a local Smart here in CT for years with Canadian plates which makes me jealous. Life is short...I'm going to do it...even if it isn't Smart.

omg, did Toyota actually make a diesel car available in the USA? I thought this was exclusive to the German cars.

hmmm, you must have a diesel truck....doesn't appear the yaris comes with a diesel, so I guess you mean you are paying too much in diesel for your present vehicle. I wish they'd make the Smart in a diesel...I think it'd make more sense even if diesel is more expensive than Gas. I mean when the prius comes out in the fall at 80mpg the Smart isn't go to look so Smart. Other than the total length, aka urban parking spots.
Sorry to hear it Bob but I like your choice. Yaris is next in line for me, too. Don't want to lose you here but you can make more friends at this site and get tons of good info on your new ride. http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/

I recieved my 30 day notice 34 days ago. The dealer has no idea of delivery, vin number, ect. I suspect it will be later this month or even next month as as Smart Jax is not getting a lot of cars.
