Update on my Yaris and refund. I should get my Yaris Friday. Also it would seem PAG is slow in the $99 refund as well. Still have not recieved it. I do hope all other Smart people will have a better experience than me.
Sorry to hear this, Bob.
I'd also like to add, though, that the Yaris coupe takes a close second in my book, as well. There's one at the local dealer here (5 miles away) in a light blue-gray with Enkei 17's. It runs 15K or so...it's really lookin' good.
But alas, I've waited on my smart for about 5 years now...I can wait two more...

I received my refund this week - about 3 weeks after requesting it.
Thanks. I'll be looking for it next week as I canx on the 4th, the last day of my 30 day notice. Anyway. At 4 dollar diesel fuel and my only transport is my truck, I really need an economical car. No more waiting. Ya all try to have a good day now ya hear!!
I dont count my Corvair as a daily driver. Its a nice car but not as safe as cars go today.
I certainly understand your frustration, and your decision - my car has been sitting at Long Beach port for weeks and yet the dealer and smartusa knows absolutely nothing - it makes no sense to me either

Still a bit too pricy (close to $40K) but at least the cost is starting to come down a bit.
Well the idea is sound but damn, you can still buy a lot of fuel for the price difference. I personnally like the Tesla Roadster. Quite a bit of car if I might add and good looking.
Well got my refund today. Cool. I read a lot of negative feelings here on the forum now. I think the Smart will succeed, but will have also a bad feeling in the mouths of a bunch of people who helped start the process because of apathy from management. To bad actually.
I think a lot of people are just being impatient, personally. Perhaps because I was a late reserver, but I didn't expect too much - granted, I did confirm earlier this week (which was rather surprising).
The fact of the matter is that we don't know everything that is going on behind the scenes at SmartUSA. While we would like to, no one has been able to figure out for 100% certainty their shipping algorithms.
We can criticize the lack of information all we want, but attacking the reservation and delivery process is a moot point without knowing all of the nuts and bolts of it. This is a new venture in the US, and much like Canada when the 450s came out, we are getting a small percentage of what comes off of the line.
I blew off a lot of steam on this site while I was waiting to get a car. Once I got one I became a true fan again. I think people like to vent. It doesn't mean the car has any serious problems. I still think they shouldn't call it a "car" because then it invites comparisons to other cars. They should call it the Smart Experience
