20,000 mile service
6 months, to the day, since I bought my little smart and she went in for her 20k service this morning. Hard to belive...actually so hard that my service manager (nice guy, always remembers me) had to call me to confirm (I dropped it at the night drop). He warned me its not a cheap one, but I figure with as hard as Im driving her right now its worth it.
I think this is the first car Ive ever owned that I had dealer serviced, but I just have enough other mechanical nightmares to deal with at home (why did my wife buy a Ford? and what made me think restoring a studebaker was a good idea?) and its good to know that its well cared for I guess. I missed out on washing her this weekend so at least they will earn their keep with the free wash this time.
So, no real point here other than I can't belive it's 20k already and I still love the little car.

They said it will be close to $400. He said they do alot of things including the air filter and other items. I will get the full list when I pick it up.
I know others have had some pretty expensive 10k services, in the $200 range but this dealer was just under $100 for the 10k so I figure they aren't gouging the price on this one, just gotta see what is involved. I thought maybe the spark plug change but they confirmed that is at 30k (so probably right after the new year for me)
This will be the last service under warantee so I will start doing it all on my own from here out. They do have good customer service though, very impressed.

Alot of folks are paying close to that for just the 10k so it seems there is a wide variety in the charges.

$80 for the 20k or the 10k?
I paid 80ish for the 10k which from what Im seeing elsewhere seems about right, but all along Ive heard the 20k is alot higher and painful on the wallet. Dont have my books here to list everything involved but the b-service is a bit more involved than the a-service.

It was around $135 for an unschedule oil change at 6,000 miles. I
m pretty sure that the 10k service down here will probably be around $200 with them checking a few more stuff instead of just doing an oil change.
