It was around $135 for an unschedule oil change at 6,000 miles. I
m pretty sure that the 10k service down here will probably be around $200 with them checking a few more stuff instead of just doing an oil change.
There. From the bee himself. But still thats crazy! Im not going to repeat what I said at the meet, but 135 for an OIL change? Well...
$135 does seem a bit high. I just did an oil change at 5000 myself and just going down to Pep Boys and paying full retail with no sale price the Mobil 1 filter and 5 qts. of 0w-30 cost $65. This included a funnel and a fancy combination drain pan and used oil container. But I suppose that at the dealer with an hour of labor @ $55 it's OK.
BTW as others have posted before, it's dead easy to DIY your oil and filter on this car. I like being able to not have to lift or crawl under the car. I just laid down on a blanket on the garage floor and was able to just reach under to the drain plug.
A2Jack - I agree, I didnt put 20k on in 6 months by treating it as a toy, its a work tool and an investment. I actually didnt even think just how much so until my coworker who has started commuting with me offered to pay 1/2 the service because this car is saving him a fortune (makes the same trip every day but drives a silverado)
The final total was $349 I'll get details on what was done when I pick her up this afternoon.
Unicycle- if I said "under warantee" in my post it was just to say that while she was still in her warantee period I was getting the dealer service. The warantee does not cover the service fees. I did not get the extended so I will be out of warantee in another month or so.
No, service is not covered by warranty. However, I have directed the shop to look hard for any thing that may need replacing prior to warranty running out.
I plan to work with a small local shop that services our Subi to do future servicing on our Smart.
We also did not buy the "extended warranty". A2Jack.

and where exactly is the "activated charcoal filter for the A/C" located.
Since the drain comes down around the battery, a good guess would be just in front of the glove compartment, under the "hood".
(Too dark to check it out now.)
I'm I wrong?
