$135 does seem a bit high. I just did an oil change at 5000 myself and just going down to Pep Boys and paying full retail with no sale price the Mobil 1 filter and 5 qts. of 0w-30 cost $65. This included a funnel and a fancy combination drain pan and used oil container. But I suppose that at the dealer with an hour of labor @ $55 it's OK.

BTW as others have posted before, it's dead easy to DIY your oil and filter on this car. I like being able to not have to lift or crawl under the car. I just laid down on a blanket on the garage floor and was able to just reach under to the drain plug.

Jtw8. Our car too, goes in for 20k service next week.

$400 + is the quote we have as well. This is from Smart Bloomfield, (Smarts HQ dealership in Michigan).

As for DIY this car is not a toy...(Yet). We use it now as a work tool and maintaining it is all part of the cost of doing business.

However, that said, this is one of the most fun cars we have ever driven, and makes the work day almost a joy. A2Jack.

I'll have my 20k visit next month, too. Time, she flies.

What's this about 'under warranty'? I have an extended warranty, but I don't think it covers amy of the checkups.

A2Jack - I agree, I didnt put 20k on in 6 months by treating it as a toy, its a work tool and an investment. I actually didnt even think just how much so until my coworker who has started commuting with me offered to pay 1/2 the service because this car is saving him a fortune (makes the same trip every day but drives a silverado)
The final total was $349 I'll get details on what was done when I pick her up this afternoon.

Unicycle- if I said "under warantee" in my post it was just to say that while she was still in her warantee period I was getting the dealer service. The warantee does not cover the service fees. I did not get the extended so I will be out of warantee in another month or so.

No, service is not covered by warranty. However, I have directed the shop to look hard for any thing that may need replacing prior to warranty running out.

I plan to work with a small local shop that services our Subi to do future servicing on our Smart.
We also did not buy the "extended warranty". A2Jack.

10K replace activated charcoal filter for the A/C, engine oil and filter

20k adds air cleaner element, brake fluid (must be DOT -3 to need it done in 20K), car key battery, grease hinges and locks of door and hatch.

The rest is visual inspection.

and where exactly is the "activated charcoal filter for the A/C" located.

Since the drain comes down around the battery, a good guess would be just in front of the glove compartment, under the "hood".
(Too dark to check it out now.)
I'm I wrong?

Check "Evilution's" site; shows exactly where it is and how to change it (takes 2 minutes)

it appearently included new wiper blades too....if Id have known Id have told them to skip that part.

Still overall she's well cared for now, clean again, and seems to be running better than ever. She's worth it.
