3 days old and need new windshield!!!

Argh! A rock hit it, I didn't notice this am but went out for lunch and there it was. Nice big arc along the bottom. Bringing it to be inspected today after work. It may pass, as it does not obstruct the view.......

That sucks. I'm sorry.

Didn't your dealer have it inspected for you when you picked your smart up?

It just happened between yesterday and today. It was perfect at the dealership. Luckily JN Phillips will come out and replace it. I haven't heard back from the insurance company yet. The most pointy part of the rock had to touch and then sent the arc. I had to look twice , since it sort of looks like the dirt line that the windshield wipers never wipe on a regular car. The actual place where the rock hit is tiny.

You might want to try and have the chip epoxy filled. My car wash fixed a star in my Benz windshield last month and I am very happy with the result. It cost under $25.

Unfortunately the whole windsheild has to be replaced and of course I have the rain sensor........the crack is at least a foot long. I would post a pic but I don't know how.

I uploaded the pics into the smart fortwo gallery/Yellow smart fortwo. Hopefully you can make them bigger to see. The yellow dots show where the crack ends and the circle is the tiny spot where it hit.

Me too...

Had a rock hit on I-5 south between Bakersfield and Los Angeles last week. This is getting to be traditional, as it happened to my Honda shortly after I bought it too... I'll have it replaced eventually I guess :-(

I always get a zero deductible on glass with my insurance company. I carry a high deductible on collision but who knows when you need a new windshield or something.

I carry a high deductable on comp, which I may lower now. The windsheild is $402, rain sensor $211 and the installation from glass company is somewhere around $100. It will be fixed in the next week and a half.
