3 Questions

I have 3 more questions for everyone!

1. Does driver/passenger weight affect the 0-60 time?

2. What is a LoJack?

3. Has anyone got 0-60 in less than 12 seconds?

1) It should affect it - not sure how much, but if you put 2 200lb people in the car it would be slower than one 150lb in it.
2) LoJack is a tracking device that can help the police find your car if it is stolen
3) Never measured it - the smart isn't a performance car so I'm not worried about how much faster it is compared to other cars.

1) The heavier the driver and/or passenger, the slower it is. How much slower depends on the weight of the person or persons and how they drive; IMO. It would be interesting to see if it affects it and how much.
2) Here is the Lojack website.
"When your vehicle is stolen, LoJack helps get it back — fast. A LoJack transmitter hidden in your vehicle helps the police track and recover it, often within a few hours.
Thieves can't find it. Thick walls can't stop it. When it comes to recovering your stolen vehicle, nothing works as well as LoJack. That's why LoJack offers a 24-hour recovery guarantee. Now that's peace of mind"
3) The Fortwo might be sporty to some (especially the cabrio) but I doubt any one would consider it a sports car. I think accerlating too fast can waste gas; IMO.

In motorcycle and atv racing circles and I assume car circles is this regarding weight - Loosing 7 pounds of weight is like gaining 1 horsepower

I get it.

1. I can probably expect 0-60 in like 15 seconds with 2 200 pound people in the car.
2. I really don't need one, cars never get stolen where I live, but it's a good thing to have.
3. It would be fun to see, but I don't care too much. (like I'll ever need 12 sec to get to 60)
- To me, a Smart is a performance car, it's lightweight and it has a 71 hp engine, sounds sporty to me.

71hp in half a car is like 140hp in a full size car. So yeah, it's got enough power once the RPMs get up there. At low RPMs the torque's pretty atrocious, so don't expect to get 0-10 as fast as anyone else... but you may pass 'em when you get from 20-30. Especially once you master manual shifting; auto mode will actually slow you down a bit between shifts... I've seen a truck or two behind me hit their brakes because they didn't expect the shift lag. They re-learned the 3 second rule pretty quick.

It's intended to be an economy car with decent performance, not a performance car with good economy.
