My wife ran the gauge down to 0.0 gallons the other day! (She'd left her credit card at home). Fortunately the trip from home to the nearest gas station was short**and mostly downhill. I asked her if the gauge went to -0.1. :-)

Hit 303.5 miles with .7 gal on the gauge....put in 7.56 gals...40.145mpg...100% city driving..2-3 miles at a time...just hit 1100 miles on the odometer.

WHOOHOO! I am in. I made it to 303.90 miles and pumped 7.706 gallons. Approx 90% in town with 2 or 3 mile jaunts on the interstate.
That gives me 39.44 mpg tank avg. I have not been driving for max economy, so this is not a good as I would like to see but I know I could better it fairly easily.
Just turned 1000 miles on the way to work this morning.

I easily get over 300 miles per fill. Maybe you guys need to break in your engines more or something...
Edit: Thinking back, I would have broken 400 in Tampa when I got over 53 mpg if I hadn't stopped to get a bite to eat and filled up at around 3/4 empty...

Of course it feels good to hit the 300 mile club the first time, especially for new owners but most will find no real challenge to hit 300 routinely as it only requires 37.5 MPG and most are achieving that after break-in.

A real challenge if you want one is the 400 club which requires you to average 47 MPG over a full tank of 8.5 gals. So not only do you need exceptional fuel mileasge but you will need to run your tank right down to empty.

A more realistic goal for most is 350 miles on a tank, which will require slightly better than 42 MPG across 8.3 gals.

I got 311 with .8 gallons left. I could of made 350 but gas prices here in the Twin Cities, MN are funky. Here is what they do:

Day 1, 3.79
Day 2 (Morning) 3.79
Day 2 (Afternoon ~1pm) 4.05
Day 3 (Afternoon) 3.95
Day 4, 3.91
Day 5, 3.87
Day 6, 3.85
Day 7, 3.85
Day 8 (Afternoon), 4.15

and the cycle continues. So if the price is the SAME averaged for over 36 hours GET GAS!

My high was 49.2 mpg on Friday (May 23rd) when I put in 7.178 gal. after driving 353.2 miles (including around Key West). Then after the fill-up in Homestead we drove back to Daytona and I still have 2 blips on the gauge. So now I can be in the 300 & 350 Clubs at the same time. WOO-HOO

My driving: 85% hwy, 15% taking the kids to school and otherwise tootling around this small town.

I've had no trouble maintaining an avg over 40 mpg starting with my 2nd full tank.

2.5-week total: 48.11 gallons, covering 1993.7 miles:
41.44 mpg.

I've hit 350 miles twice in 8 tanks, but the other times, I filled up quite early on. [On two occasions, I was resetting the ScanGaugeII for the fillup accuracy. My readouts are now much more accurate. Before I made the adjustments, it looked like I was getting over 50 mpg routinely. Ah well.]

I have a big trip (600+ miles) in a few weeks where I'll get a chance to use up most of a tank on one highway run, so it'll be interesting to see how that plays out. And then I get to try it again, in the reverse direction, a week later.

I drive slower than allowed, averaging about 60 mph, and I have begun drafting from a safe distance (100+ feet?) for a few little boosts. I also avoid the A/C when possible. Lately, that's been impossible, so I keep it to the lowest setting.

Just made the 'club' on this last tank: 300.6 mi, 7.343g.
Scangauge is showing me getting 48-49mpg on the last few trips. I'm sure if I avoid the around town 2-5 miles hops, I'll make it into the 400 club.
I'm pretty amazed; I was putting along yesterday on a gravel road in 2nd gear to keep the dust down and I was getting a steady 36mpg (on the current trip function, not instant). The engine was totally warmed up, but the current trip was just that leg since I had it shut off for a minute.
