4 to 6 months

Hi everyone. My wife and I placed our order for the Smart. We drove down to Sarasota form Tampa to test drive and touch and feel. They told us there that we would wait 4 to 6 months. Is this about right? Thanks in advance.

I e-mailed the sarasota dealership with the order I placed with smartusa ,the salesmale e-maile me back he had a car in a different color with everything I ordered,I drove down from st pete and bought it ,so instead of waiting 4-8 months from Lokey in clearwater ,I walked away with a great orphan ,only 4 days after contacting the dealer

While there will be exceptions, the current time between $99 reservation (I assume this is what you mean by placing your order) and delivery is closer to 10 months. That said, hopefully recent orders will be processed in a faster time frame, and maybe will eventually approach that 4 - 6 month time frame. However - and there is debate about this - the 2008 model year supposedly is spoken for, which means you would get a 2009 whenever they would become available. But you never know about those dealer to dealer differences.

10 months - I wish! I reserved on March 30th, and I'll be lucky to see my car by the end of April. Penske, by their own numbers, plan to deliver less than 5000 cars through the end of March 08. A bunch of those might end up as orphans, but as we are seeing, orphans go to whoever walks in off the street and gets on the dealer's list.

If you're not too fussy about color and option selection, I think an orphan is the way to go. Just ask your dealer to add you to the list. You'll get a car much quicker than through the reservation program.

Okay, here I go again. { I'm probably sounding like a broken record at this point. }

Reserved 20 May 07
1235

No configuration yet.

It depends on the demand in your area, Yannie. I think someone with a 14XX got their configuration this last batch on 15 Feb. I know that a 137X configured in South Texas. At this point the best you can get is a guesstimation from dealership and smartusa. Follow the threads here of who has configured and how long it took then you might gain better insight for your particular region.

I too reserved On 8/15 and no where near confirmation in my area , Looks like at least 8-10 months before confirm and another 4 after that, so I will be lucky to see My reservation to delivery in 12-14 months (I may be in the last batch for this year.)
