Great Q -- as it happens, this issue was raised at the d'ship. The mechanics suggest that I can still run my original tires another 4-5 thousand miles. I'd rather save the money and hold out even longer, but then it's winter, and that would probably not be good. So in a few months, I'll have to get 4 new tires. The good news is that I'll have some spare tires.
I did get all 4 tires rotated today. There might have been a few other things done for the 50k that are NOT part of the 10k checkup.
The bill, which came to $390 before tax, included $279 for labor. I had both filters replaced, got new oil and other fluids, and had everything checked. To my surprise, I still don't need new brakes. Because of my driving style and conditions, I don't use the brakes a lot.
The loud farting sound that I had noticed lately turns out to have been caused by some mud build-up by the rear tires. Normally I wash the car once every week or two, but lately I'd let that slide. Never again! On my drive home today, I checked out the dB level and found it to be in the high 50s/low 60s -- significantly lower than the levels I was getting last week. Phew!
I'm already up to 51,000 miles.
