That's only if it's really needed, and quite frankly, on newer mitsu engines, this should be a non-issue @ 60K. It's a bummer that the engine sits the way it does, the valves are actually quite easy to adjust, but the engine bay looks like it might be a tough job.

Anyone received a quote from their dealer for this yet?

Look's like the whole rear subframe will come down for the valve adjustment, might as well remove the cylinder head, shave it, do a port job, back cut the intake valves, and clean up the exhaust manifold.

The 60k includes an inspection for valve clearence. If valve adustment is needed it will be necessary to change the lifter shims because there is no adjuster for valve lash, as I understand it.

My guess is that 99.9% of the cars will not need any adjustment, so I hope several people will have the check done before I have 60k on mine as I am at 39K now.

Thanks for that update uni. Appreciated. That would explain some of the noise in mine. I've got well over 1k of dirt road under the tires of my smarts and when I drive my parents smart, it is much quieter. My dad won't even come out to my house in his smart because of the roads.

no its not.

OK, back to uni's thread. I forgot to mention that I DO keep my cars washed regularly, to include extensive wheelwell washing.

Thanks for the clarification, I'll have to take back part of what I said, that's definitely different than other Mitsubishi engines. The 4G/6G/4B series motors have adjustable valves. Darn.
