Accessories Are Becoming Available
I just returned from smart in Laguna Niguel (Friday the 8th) and was pleasantly surprised to find that I could actually buy some of the smart accessories. None of these are yet on display in the smart building, but may be obtained through the adjacent Mercedes Parts Department. Ask for Jeff, as he seem to be the one with the best chance of finding the somewhat disordered parts.
I picked up the sunglass holder, the cloth carpet mats and the roller blind (the luggage space retractable cover and net). Asked for the fanfare horns but Jeff couldn't immediately locate them, though he thought that they were on hand.
Don't have the car yet, but am working on the accessories.

Accessories Laguna Niguel
Are the Laguna folks farther than 1173 on Deliveries? I'm an 1196 and that is my dealer. Are there any accessories related to the ipod/cell phone/ GPS like holders?

The only thing I plan on purchasing from my dealer are the extra set of panels. So if there is something you want, check out smart.com on the UK site to see what extras can be had that would fit your lifestyle and go for it. Enjoy whatever you buy (regardless who provided it!). I like the idea of avoiding taxes and dealer mark up. I went to the UK site but I didn't see where you could order accessories for you smart. Did you have to call them? Could you please provide more details about how you were able to order accessories. Thanks.

Just came back from a visit to Laguna and a nice chat with Stacey. It seems there are a few of us (3 to be exact) that were on the original list (that looked to contain around 50 names) who have yet to recieve theirs. I'm an 1173 and today marked the end of my 30 day notice - with no delivery. I'm glad I went, I'm more encouraged that I should be soon and the dealership had some very cute "smart" items as well as a display showing "skins" and a color wheel of offerings from a third party vendor. Stacey tells me the rumor going around is that 2009 should be bringing a "candy apple red" set of panels, so for anyone disappointed with the red choice, we may be offered another.
That's the scoop from Laguna.

I heard from the Laguna Niguel dealer and they said my Smart should arrive in late April!

Are the 2009 coming out during the early Fall like most 2009 autos?
Hopefully, my local dealer won't force me to take all the latest accessories in addition to all the add-ons for the next orphan.
