Accident!

So, my 2008 Smart Passion was just rear-ended.
The road became slippery during a surprise hail-storm, and a large delivery truck slid and rear-ended me at low speed (probably less than 20 mph).

As soon as I download some cellphone pictures I took of the accident, I'll share them. In the meantime, here's my observations:

The back bumper got whacked pretty good. The thin connectors on top of the bumper, near the base of the tail-gate were snapped in half. The tailgate looks a bit out of skew. I haven't yet met with the insurance adjuster, so I have no idea how bad the less-visible damage is (eg. around the engine).

Anyway, I'll post updates to this thread as available. Hopefully it'll be an informative learning experience.

Post some pics and a battle damage report when you're up to it.

Having seen the sacrificial structure of the bumper from underneath and the tailgate area from behind, I have hope for a good resolution.

Glad to hear no complaints about soreness or blurring vision!

I saw a silver cabrio today at Smart Center Easton that was damaged in the rear and also in the right front. It's hatch was damaged, and the left "fender" was broken (literally). Don't know what happened to it, it was moved before I picked up my car. I remember thinking that if there wasn't any damage beside the obvious, it should be an easy fix. Who knows.
Good luck on your repairs!!
