Actual MPG obtained

I thought it might be interesting and informative to start tracking what mileage people actually get in the USA 451. I don't know how that can be done in this forum but thought I would throw out the idea.

So far the USA today test driver obtained 40 MPG in suburban driving. Another test driver said he had obtained 47 MPG on the highway driving 60-65 mph over 300 miles.

Good information to have and more important than the EPA ratings, in MHO.

Once actual deliveries begin I am sure that Smart will create a mileage subject forum.

Once the cars arrive, I would suspect that several will show up in the mileage logs at CleanMPG. Mine will...

Hey All

Try going here http://www.spritmonitor.de/en/ if you sign up (free) you can configure it so your search results are in US measurements.

You can find info about the EU 451's and the mileage their getting.

Even though it creates some confusion and make the mileage rating look unimpressive, I like the new EPA tests. They should be much more representative of what people actually get.

My GMC truck has a 2.8L engine, and it is rated on the old system at 19/23. Frankly it never gets that kind of mileage unless I use premium and then only if you are driving on the interstate at 65 or less. It really averages around 15mpg. My guess is under the new guidelines it would test at closer to the 15mpg.
